What is a broad nose?

A broad nose is a common nose shape. This means that the nose is too wide in certain places. This can be at the base of the bridge of the nose or at the roof of the nose (which is disturbing when wearing glasses). Narrowing the nose with the open or closed technique

Nose narrowing: this is how the procedure works

Narrowing the nasal pyramid

This involves narrowing at the base of the nose. The nasal bones are first loosened, i.e. "broken" in a targeted and professional manner by pressing them together at the base. Dr Fischer then removes a central strip of tissue in order to narrow the bridge of the nose accordingly. The bridge of the nose is then narrowed by pressing the right and left nasal walls together.

Narrowing and modelling the tip of the nose

The shape of the tip of the nose depends on the shape of the underlying wing cartilages. In some cases, the lateral parts of these wing cartilages are too voluminous, large or curved. In the ideal shape of the nasal tip, however, the tips of the two wing cartilages are barely recognisable. In addition, they are not too wide and are approx. 3-4 mm apart. There are various approaches to narrowing the tip of the nose.

This includes, for example, removing some cartilage material from the central part of the wing cartilage. To do this, small triangles are removed from the tip. Dr Fischer then sutures the tips with fine suture material. In this way, the tips can be narrowed and the angles of the lateral wing cartilages to the centre ones can be adjusted. This makes the entire tip of the nose narrower. The prerequisite for this is skin that is not too thick. If it is particularly thick, inelastic or very rich in sebaceous glands, it may be difficult to achieve a beautifully defined nose tip.

Narrowing the nostrils (incl. nostrils)

The impression of a broad nose or a misshapen nose can also be created by bulging, curved nostrils. In this case, the adjustment is made by removing a strip of skin from the nostril. The nostrils can be reduced in size at the same time by making the incision right into the nostril opening.

Following the respective procedure, Dr Fischer sutures all incisions and, if necessary, places tampons through the nostrils. He tapes the bridge of the nose and nostrils with special plasters. He then applies a thermosplint, a tape bandage and internal splints to provide your nose with the best possible protection during the healing phase.

But sometimes they transfer their amusement about the big ears to their schoolmates. Protruding ears (also known as sail ears) can lead to more and more teasing as children get older. To protect their children from insults, ridicule, malice and psychological pressure, many parents consider having their child's ears surgically pinned back. The procedure does not necessarily have to be carried out in childhood. Sclerotic ears can also be treated in adolescence or later. There is no upper age limit.

Ear pinning: How does the procedure work?

Ear correction is usually performed under anaesthetic. Only minor corrections can also be carried out under local anaesthetic. During the operation, which lasts around one and a half to two hours, the ear cartilage is shaped so that the ear no longer protrudes so far from the head. The aim is to achieve an attractive, natural-looking result.

We use a modern, particularly tissue-sparing technique (modified suture method). The correction is made with a high-speed diamond drill through a small incision behind the ear that is no longer visible after the procedure. Self-dissolving sutures are pulled through the cartilage skin to create the shape. The desired result is then fixed. The stitches dissolve by themselves after about two to three months. Scarring of the cartilage skin stabilises the result.

How is hair removed by laser?

The result of the hair removal options described above is smooth skin, but not permanent depilation. In addition, methods such as sugaring, waxing or epilating are often unpleasant or even painful.

The situation is different with laser hair removal: a high-frequency laser is used to generate heat in the hair roots. The laser energy is customised to your skin type and individual findings. The heat cauterises the roots, ideally preventing new hair from forming.

Which areas of the body can be depilated with the laser?

Many areas of the body can be freed from unwanted hair with the laser: These include, for example, the areas of the cheeks, chin or upper lip (keyword: lady's beard), the bikini line, the legs and the armpits.

Laser hair removal cannot be carried out around the eyes or below the eyebrows. Areas of the fontanelle on the head are also taboo, as are skin areas with tattoos or permanent make-up. Caution also applies to moles and liver spots - they must not come into contact with the hair removal laser. The same applies to injured areas of skin.

Results of permanent hair removal with laser

As promising as laser treatment is, not everyone responds to it. The colour of the skin and hair plays a decisive role in achieving a successful end result. The darker the hair and the lighter the skin, the better the hair can be removed with the laser, as the contrast between skin and hair is clear.
Darker hair is more strongly pigmented and contains more Melanin. This is good for the laser treatment, as this dye absorbs the laser light better, making the treatment more effective. White, grey or very light-coloured hairs cannot be removed with the laser. They lack melanin and the laser cannot find the hair root.

You should also be aware that in most cases, several sessions are required to achieve beautiful, smooth skin, which can take place at staggered intervals. This is because during the laser session, only the hair roots that are in a growth phase at that precise moment are treated. This is around 20 to 30 per cent of the hair per session, the rest takes a break, so to speak. After around four weeks, another part of the hair roots becomes active. This can then be treated. In order to catch as many hairs as possible in their growth phase, around three to seven treatments are required.

The hair roots that were "caught" by the laser are inactive and no more hair grows from them. However, it can happen that hair roots that did not work at all at a certain point in time or were activated by hormonal changes become active years later. In these cases, further laser treatments can be carried out.

How do spider veins develop?

Spider veins can have various causes.

They usually form due to a hereditary predisposition or sex hormones. In addition, age, weight, the regular consumption of Nicotine in combination with a lack of exercise often contribute to their development. They are generally harmless, but can also be a sign of incipient venous insufficiency. They then develop when the veins work less efficiently. As the vascular walls become overstretched, the veins can gradually lose their elasticity. Sitting correctly

It happens automatically when sitting: Without thinking, we cross our legs. What looks elegant is not good for the small blood vessels in the legs. Make sure you change your sitting position more often.

Put your legs up

To relieve the pressure on your veins, you should elevate your legs as often as possible. This works well during the night, for example, if you elevate your legs with a pillow.

Wear compression stockings

The special stockings narrow the diameter of the leg veins and accelerate the return flow of blood to the heart.
