Subjective tinnitus
In this case there is no clearly recognisable cause in the body to which the tinnitus is attributed.

- sudden deafness (sudden hearing loss with severe ringing in the ears)
- Inflammation of the ear (e.g. middle ear inflammation)
- Infections with viruses or bacteria

- General hearing loss
- Meniere's disease (severe attacks of vertigo accompanied by tinnitus and hearing loss)

- Extreme noise exposure (e.g. due to loud music or machine noise, but also after explosions or bangs)
