Our nose is a fascinating organ: it can absorb and process odours, allow us to breathe, clean and humidify the air we take in and remove inhaled pathogens and particles.
\nThis enormous output can also lead to problems and restrictions caused by acute or chronic conditions (e.g. allergies, nosebleeds, rhinitis, sinusitis) or functional limitations (e.g. Curvature of the nasal septum<\/a>) can be caused.<\/p>\n

Common nasal complaints that can be treated without surgery<\/h3>\n

Allergies<\/h5>\n

Patients whose bodies are particularly sensitive to pollen from certain flowers, grasses or trees often have to deal with unpleasant symptoms in spring and summer. The nose is blocked or runs excessively, the eyes water and burn. However, the symptoms do not necessarily have to be seasonal and caused by flowering plants; animal hair, moulds, house dust mites, chemical substances, food and stimulants can also be triggers.<\/p>\n

These allergic reactions are treated on the one hand by avoiding the triggering factors, and on the other hand by administering antihistamines or cortisone preparations. Alternatively, those affected can also take Hyposensitisation<\/a> The body is confronted with the allergens in different intensities and can thus learn to deal with them.<\/p>\n

Nosebleed<\/h5>\n

It often happens unexpectedly from one moment to the next: Blood runs from the nose! As serious as it may seem, nosebleeds are usually harmless. It is often triggered by blowing your nose vigorously or if the nasal mucosa is too dry. The fine blood vessels in the front part of the nasal septum can react sensitively to this. However, nosebleeds can also occur at the back of the nose. Here the vessels are thicker and the bleeding can be more severe. In this case, the bleeding often cannot be stopped on its own and we as Ear, nose and throat specialist<\/a> must help.<\/p>\n

In most cases, nosebleeds are not a cause for concern. However, if you experience severe, prolonged or very frequent bleeding from the nose or if you have been \"hit on the nose\", i.e. have a visible injury, please contact us immediately.<\/p>\n

Olfactory disorders<\/h5>\n

The smell of delicious food, coffee, fresh bread, spices or flowers is something fine - but some people can only barely perceive these odours, if at all. These disorders of the sense of smell can have a huge impact on quality of life, as a loss or change in the sense of smell is often directly linked to a loss of the sense of taste.
\nThese olfactory disorders can be triggered by a disease of the nose or the Paranasal sinuses<\/a>. This is because if the mucous membranes are swollen (e.g. due to a cold or a cold) or anatomical features such as a deviated septum are present, the odours that the nose absorbs can hardly or not at all reach the olfactory sensory cells. However, it is also possible that the odour reaches the sensory cells but is unfortunately not processed properly there. This may be due to too few olfactory sensory cells or damage to the nerves.<\/p>\n

Pimples in the nose<\/h5>\n

Pimples can not only form on the forehead, cheeks and chin - they can also appear directly IN the nose. Here too, the causes can be varied: If the nasal mucosa is particularly sensitive due to a cold, for example, dirt particles and bacteria can penetrate it more easily. Other triggers can include ingrown nasal hairs or herpes viruses.<\/p>\n

Common nasal complaints that require surgery<\/h3>\n

Nasal bone \/ nasal septum fracture<\/h5>\n

It can happen quickly: An accident, a stray ball while playing or a blow to the nose not only hurts, but can also cause the nose to break.<\/p>\n

A hernia can often be recognised by nosebleeds, bruising or haematoma in the nasal area, swelling of the sinuses with an accompanying deterioration in breathing, restricted ability to smell and\/or a crooked nose. If these symptoms are present, it is usually a closed nasal fracture. An open nasal hernia can usually be recognised by torn skin.<\/p>\n

In this situation, you should definitely consult a doctor. Slight misalignments can often be corrected under local anaesthetic. If bone fragments have shifted or the nose is crooked, a more complex operation is necessary.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t<\/div> \t

Curvature of the nasal septum<\/h5>\n

The nasal septum is responsible, among other things, for the optimal circulation of the air we breathe. It also keeps the nose stable. Anatomically speaking, the nasal septum separates the outer part of the nose - ideally in the centre - into two halves. However, this is not always the case. If the nasal septum is crooked, this can result in breathing problems, impaired olfactory function, bad breath, snoring and sleep problems.<\/p>\n

One Curvature of the nasal septum<\/a> may be present from birth or may be caused by an injury.<\/p>\n

Based on your findings, we advise you to undergo surgery to correct the curvature and alleviate discomfort.<\/p>\n

Snoring<\/h5>\n

The \"sawmill in the bedroom\" can have serious consequences for a relationship or sleeping together in bed. However, it's not just the partner who suffers when someone snores, but also the snorer themselves. The rattling, rattling and creaking can result from constricted airways due to relaxed muscles. An allergy or a cold can also lead to annoying snoring.<\/span><\/p>\n
