If the nose is crooked, it is not only this unit of attractiveness that can be disturbed. A crooked nose can also lead to functional disorders such as breathing problems. The nasal axis tilts visibly to the right or left. A curved nasal septum is usually the cause of the deformity.<\/p>\n<p>A crooked nose is often genetic. This means that the curvature of the <a href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nasenscheidewand\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nasal septum<\/a>\u00a0is congenital. This makes the nasal axis slanted - which also affects the appearance.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes a crooked nose only develops in the course of life. Accidents, falls or even violence can affect the structures of the nose and cause it to shift. Above all, it is fractures of the nasal bone that subsequently lead to a crooked-looking nose. In this case, the bones and cartilage have grown together crookedly rather than straight during the healing process.<\/p>\n<p>In some cases, it is not the nasal septum that is affected by the curvature, but only the bony bridge of the nose is crooked - in other words, only the outside of the nose is crooked and the internal structures are not affected.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t<\/div> \t<div class=\"vc_empty_space\"  style=\"height: 30px\" ><span\r\n\t\t\tclass=\"vc_empty_space_inner\">\r\n\t\t\t<span class=\"empty_space_image\"  ><\/span>\r\n\t\t<\/span><\/div>\r\n\n\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\">\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<h3>Possible effects on aesthetics and health<\/h3>\n<p>If the nose is crooked, this throws the proportions of the face out of balance. As a result, the facial harmony, which is characterised by the symmetry of the facial features, suffers. A crooked nose can destroy the evenness of the facial features due to its atypical, asymmetrical shape. The extent to which this happens naturally depends on the degree of deformation. A slight crookedness has less of an effect than a severe curvature - as can occur after an injury, for example.<\/p>\n<p>A crooked nose is often associated with functional limitations. This means that it can hinder breathing or lead to a distorted sense of smell.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t<\/div> \n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\">\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<h3>What can you do about a crooked nose?<\/h3>\n\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t<\/div> \t<div class=\"vc_empty_space\"  style=\"height: 30px\" ><span\r\n\t\t\tclass=\"vc_empty_space_inner\">\r\n\t\t\t<span class=\"empty_space_image\"  ><\/span>\r\n\t\t<\/span><\/div>\r\n\n\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\">\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<h5>Make-up techniques for slight misalignment<\/h5>\n<p>If you don't have a very pronounced nose, but only a slight deformity, you can use special make-up techniques to visually compensate for the deformity. With the help of make-up, you can draw attention away from the nose. To do this, you should choose make-up that is darker than the make-up on your face. This will make your nose appear straighter. There are many explanatory videos on the internet with step-by-step instructions that can help you with this. Alternatively, you can also ask a make-up artist to show you techniques.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t<\/div> \t<div class=\"vc_empty_space\"  style=\"height: 30px\" ><span\r\n\t\t\tclass=\"vc_empty_space_inner\">\r\n\t\t\t<span class=\"empty_space_image\"  ><\/span>\r\n\t\t<\/span><\/div>\r\n\n\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\">\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<h5>Surgical rhinoplasty: crooked nose operation<\/h5>\n<p>In the case of more pronounced findings and a simultaneous restriction of functionality (impaired nasal breathing), surgical correction of the crooked nose is advisable. If only the bony part of the nose is affected, we straighten the bony bridge of the nose. If the nasal septum is crooked, we straighten it by correcting its shape and reconstructing it. We also restore the desired shape and create a symmetrical centre line (see also: <a href=\"\/en\/nasal-septum-surgery-frankfurt\/\">Nasal septum surgery<\/a>). We then insert special support elements into your nose. These facilitate the healing of the nose.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t<\/div> \t<div class=\"vc_empty_space\"  style=\"height: 30px\" ><span\r\n\t\t\tclass=\"vc_empty_space_inner\">\r\n\t\t\t<span class=\"empty_space_image\"  ><\/span>\r\n\t\t<\/span><\/div>\r\n\n\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\">\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<h3>At what age can you have a crooked nose operated on?<\/h3>\n<p>If it becomes apparent at a young age that the nose is developing a crooked position, surgery should not be performed too early. Crooked nose surgery is not advisable at too young an age. This is because the body is still growing during puberty. This means that the result of the operation is not yet final. In women, the growth phase of the nose is completed from the age of 15 to 16, in men from the age of 16 or 17. We do not recommend having a cosmetic rhinoplasty performed before this age. If rhinoplasty is performed too early, this can result in growth disorders that make another nose job necessary. The situation is different if there is a serious functional impairment.
