Nose shapes that can affect your facial aesthetics

• The broad nose
  The nostrils are often difficult to recognise in this nasal shape due to their barrel shape. The tip of the nose, the bony base and/or the cartilaginous part of the bridge of the nose are usually affected. The nose appears too wide in relation to the face.
• The hooked nose
  It is characterised by a curved nose bridge and a curved tip. This gives the nose a hook-shaped appearance. The tip of the nose can even point downwards so much that it forms the lowest point of the nose.
• The short nose
  With this nose shape, the tip of the nose often tilts upwards. Overall, it appears relatively short.
• The crooked nose
  Here the nasal axis is uneven and tilted, either to the left or right. This causes the nose to deviate to the side. The cause is often a curvature of the nasal septum, which can also impair breathing.
• The saddle nose
  A visible indentation effect occurs when the bridge of the nose has too little cartilage and is too short. In profile, the nose looks like a saddle, broad and plump. The tip of the nose can also protrude.
• The bumpy nose
  This nose shape is characterised by excess bone and cartilage tissue along the bridge of the nose. This forms a clearly visible hump. Similar to the hooked nose, the tip of the nose can also be slightly curved downwards, but in a less pronounced form.

Different surgical techniques for rhinoplasty in our ENT clinic in Frankfurt

Depending on the type and severity of the malposition of your nose, we use the open or closed method in our practice clinic.

With the closed method, your nose is optimised by making incisions in the nostrils. This technique is particularly suitable for minor corrections. However, it is not possible to change the tip of the nose.

With the open method, we also make a small incision on the bridge of the nose. This allows us to loosen the skin at the tip of the nose and fold it back to obtain a better view of the bony area.

For example, we can reduce the bridge of your nose or narrow a wide nasal root. We can also use this technique to change the position of the tip of your nose, raising or lowering it. We can also straighten a crooked nose by correcting your Nasal septum correct.

We can also fill depressions on the bridge of the nose. In the case of a hump, we mobilise the bony bridge of the nose and bring the side walls closer together to achieve a natural and aesthetic nose shape.
