An ENT doctor is a highly specialised specialist who deals with diseases of the ears, nose, oral cavity, throat and vocal apparatus, as well as the upper and lower respiratory tract and oesophagus.
General practitioners and family doctors sometimes refer their patients to an ENT specialist for further diagnostics or differential diagnostics. If you have complaints in the ENT tract, you can also come directly to our practice.
These include earache, acute or slow hearing loss, ringing in the ears, dizziness, nasal obstruction, persistent or frequently recurring nosebleeds and snoring.
You can also contact us if you have an unclear headache, sore throat, difficulty swallowing, hoarseness or swelling of the throat.
The head and chest are connected by the anatomical structures of the neck. In addition to its musculature and connective tissue, it contains vital pathways - including the oesophagus and trachea, which are separated by the larynx. It contains the vocal cords. The thyroid gland is located below the larynx. The carotid artery, parts of the spinal cord, the tonsils and numerous lymph vessels and lymph nodes are also located in the neck.
Common complaints are sore throats, which can often be attributed to inflammatory processes (colds, tonsillitis, inflammation of the larynx and/or vocal cords). Dr Thomas Fischer carries out a comprehensive examination (e.g. with the ENT endoscopy) and will help you with a suitable therapy so that you feel well again quickly.
The nose is part of the upper respiratory tract. Its main function is for breathing: with its anatomical structures, it regulates the air flow, warms the inhaled air and cleans and moisturises it. The fact that the nose is also known as the "olfactory organ" points to its other function: the sense of smell. Thanks to it, we can perceive fragrant scents and enjoy the aroma and flavour of delicious food. But we can also be warned, for example by the smell of fire or bad food. But that's not all! The nose also plays an important role in language development, as it serves as a resonance chamber.
There are many diseases that can affect the nose. They begin with acute complaints, for example in the context of infections, but also include chronic diseases. Some problems are associated with congenital deformities (e.g. deviated septum), others with acquired diseases (e.g. allergies, nasal concha enlargement, chronic sinusitis).
However, the nose is not just an organ, but also a striking visual feature that contributes greatly to the aesthetics of a face. If the nose is proportionally too large, too long, too wide or too small, if it is crooked or has a hump, this can have a negative effect on the patient's appearance.
Being an ENT specialist does not necessarily only involve medical therapies. As an ENT surgeon, Dr Thomas Fischer carries out Goethe10 Practice Clinic in Frankfurt also Plastic rhinoplasty through.
Our ears are the organs in our body with which we can perceive sound - i.e. tones, sounds and noises. These sound waves, be they music, speech or other noises, are picked up by the pinna. They then reach the eardrum via the auditory canal. The three auditory ossicles - the malleus, incus and stapes - carry the sound waves to the inner ear. This is where the receptors for hearing are located, as well as the organ of balance.
The ear is a very complex anatomical structure that can lead to various clinical pictures. These can be accompanied by pain, hearing loss, ringing in the ears and dizziness.
Dr Thomas Fischer uses various methods to find out which disease is affecting your ear(s) and determines the appropriate therapy for treatment. As the ears also shape the appearance of the face and contribute to its attractiveness, Dr Fischer, as an ENT surgeon, can also create ears if they are protruding ("sail ears").
